The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday vowed to transform his home constituency, Kuppam, into a national model for development and welfare, launching a slew of projects under the ambitious ‘Swarna Kuppam’ initiative.
Addressing a large public gathering after inaugurating several development and welfare schemes, Naidu reiterated his commitment to rebuilding a state left in ruins by the previous government. “We are reviving a state that was devastated. Only those who build development have the moral right to speak about welfare,” said Naidu, drawing cheers from the crowd.
One of the most significant promises made during the event was Naidu’s assurance to bring water from the Handri-Neeva Sujala Sravanthi (HNSS) project to Kuppam’s tail-end ayacut within this year. “I promise the people of Kuppam that their decades-long dream of Handri-Neeva waters will come true soon. We are investing Rs.3,890 crore to complete this critical irrigation lifeline,” he said.
As part of the Rs.1,292 crore Swarna Kuppam masterplan, Naidu said that road infrastructure across the constituency would be upgraded into BT and CC roads, aiming to make “pothole-free roads a reality” across Andhra Pradesh. He also announced Rs.50 crore for temple development and detailed plans to restore every temple in the constituency. Additionally, Gokulam sheds have been constructed and cows distributed to each household, which he said are now contributing to increased household income. “In the near future, Kuppam will produce 10 lakh litres of milk daily. We are empowering rural livelihoods in every way,” the Chief Minister noted.
Naidu unveiled a series of tech-driven governance tools, including WhatsApp Governance and AI-based grievance redressal systems. He announced that digital health records are being piloted in Kuppam in partnership with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and Tata Trusts. “We are building a model of citizen-centric digital governance. You don’t need to visit government offices anymore,” he said.
In a major employment push, Naidu revealed that MoUs worth Rs.1,617 crore were signed with four companies in the presence of the Chief Minister, aiming to skill youth and generate thousands of jobs. Hindalco Jan Seva Trust will set up a Skill Development Centre training 1,000 youth over three years. E-Rays Motors Pvt Ltd will establish a factory for e-autos and electric sweeping machines, creating 410 direct jobs.
The same firm will supply 130 e-autos for Kuppam’s door-to-door waste collection, making it the first constituency to use EVs for wet and dry garbage pickup. Ace International will invest Rs.525 crore in a milk processing and nutrition complex, capable of handling 7.5 lakh litres of milk per day, creating 7,000 jobs. SVF Soya Pvt Ltd will invest Rs.372.8 crore to build a soy processing plant benefiting 2 lakh farmers and offering 3,000 direct and indirect jobs.
