Residents of Bachupally staged a peaceful protest on Sunday, demanding immediate action to address the worsening industrial pollution in their locality. Held at Bachupally X Road near Silver Oaks School, close to 100–150 residents from diverse communities took part. Protesters carried placards with slogans like “Stop Pollution,” “PCB ko Jagao, Pollution Bhagao,” and “Pollution-Free Air is Our Birthright,” urging the Pollution Control Board (PCB) to take action.

The residents have long endured chemical odours and harmful gas emissions from nearby factories, resulting in severe health issues such as burning eyes, headaches, and breathing difficulties. Despite repeated complaints to the PCB, no concrete solutions have been provided. While inspections were promised, residents allege no action has followed.

A protester stated, “We’ve filed multiple complaints with the PCB. Protesting is now our only hope. If needed, we’ll organize a larger protest to raise awareness.” Another added, “The pollution impacts our health—it irritates our eyes and skin, and we can’t even keep our doors open in the evenings.”

The event included a rally that began at Kavya Avenue Community Hall, passed through Mallampet Road, and concluded at Bachupally X Road. Residents from neighboring areas like Nizampet and Pragathi Nagar joined, emphasizing clean air as a fundamental right. Plans are underway for a larger protest, involving 1,000 participants and formal representation from over 100 community welfare associations.
