On the auspicious occasion of Basanta Panchami, a traditional worship of Maa Saraswati along with a devotional cultural programme was successfully held with great reverence and devotion at Shrividya Math, located on the sacred Kedar Ghat in Kashi. Students of Jagadguru Kulam actively participated, filling the entire math premises with the resonance of Vedic mantras, incense, lamps, and a deeply spiritual atmosphere.
The main worship ritual was conducted in accordance with proper Vedic procedures by Brahmachari Paramatmananda Ji. The young brahmacharins (batuks) of the gurukul participated in the puja with complete discipline, regularity, and utmost devotion.
The programme was organised under the guidance of Shri Krishnakumar Dwivedi, Administrator of Shrividya Math. It was conducted by the Vice-Principal of Jagadguru Kulam, while the religious rituals were presided over by Pt. Shubham Bhardwaj Ji as the chief priest (acharya)
Addressing the students on this occasion, Shri Shambhu Sharan Pandey Ji, Principal of Jagadguru Kulam, highlighted the significance of Basanta Panchami. He explained that this festival symbolises knowledge, refinement of character, and the awakening of new consciousness. It conveys a powerful message to students to strengthen their pursuit of studies, discipline, and righteous conduct in life.
After the worship, the young students presented a beautiful rendition of Saraswati Vandana, Guru Vandana, and several devotional bhajans, which received heartfelt appreciation from all those present.
Sadhvi Purnamba Didi Ji, who was present at the event, spoke about the importance of gurukul education. She emphasised that education in the gurukul tradition is not limited to academic learning alone; it teaches students to lead a life of discipline, service, good character, and truthfulness.
Here, along with knowledge, a student also learns excellent conduct, respect for the guru, and a sense of responsibility towards society. Referring to the ancient Indian education system, she noted that since time immemorial, the aim of our education has been character building and the cultivation of social responsibility.
The gurukul tradition continues to carry forward this noble vision even today. The programme was attended by the students and teachers of the gurukul, along with several distinguished guests and devotees.
