Big police shuffle in Telangana

23 IPS officers transferred, including top brass

In a significant administrative overhaul, the Telangana government issued orders for the transfer and posting of several senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and Indian Police Service (IPS) officers. This reshuffle, amid allegations of protocol violations particularly involving the Rajanna Sircilla District Collector during the Praja Palana Dinotsavam celebrations on September 17, where the Chief Secretary served a memo seeking an explanation, aims to enhance governance efficiency across key sectors.

The bureaucratic shuffle  includes the transfer of Sandeep Kumar Jha, IAS (2014), from Collector & District Magistrate, Rajanna Sircilla, to Special Secretary to Government, Transport, Roads & Buildings Department; C.V. Anand, IPS (1991), from Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad City, to Special Chief Secretary to Government, Home Department; V.C. Sajjanar, IPS (1996), from Managing Director, Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC), to Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad City; and Y. Nagi Reddy, IPS (1997), from Director General, Telangana Disaster Response & Fire Services, to Managing Director, TGSRTC.

In the IAS cadre, affecting eight officers with full additional charge arrangements, Syed Ali Murtaza Rizvi, IAS (1999), Principal Secretary to Government, Commercial Taxes & Excise Department, is placed in full additional charge of Principal Secretary to Govenment (Poll), General Administration Department, relieving M. Raghunandan Rao, IAS (2002), from that role.

M. Raghunandan Rao, IAS (2002), Secretary to Government, Agriculture & Co-operation Department, is transferred and posted as Commissioner, Commercial Taxes, and also holds full additional charge of Commissioner, Transport. K. Surendra Mohan, IAS (2006), is posted as Secretary to Government, Agriculture & Co-operation Department, continuing in full additional charge of Commissioner for Cooperation and Registrar of Cooperative Societies, and Director, Marketing.

M. Haritha, IAS (2013), Special Secretary to Government, Education Department, is transferred and posted as Collector & District Magistrate, Rajanna Sircilla.

K. Haritha, IAS (2013), Commissioner, Commercial Taxes, is transferred and posted as Special Secretary to Government, Finance Department.

The IPS transfers involve 23 officers including Ravi Gupta, IPS (1990), Special Chief Secretary to Government, Home Department, who is transferred to Executive Vice-Chairman & Director General, Centre for Good Governance. Shikha Goel, IPS (1994), Director, TG Cyber Security Bureau, is transferred to Director General, Vigilance & Enforcement, with full additional charge of her previous post. Swati Lakra, IPS (1995), Additional Director General of Police, Organization & Home Guards, holds full additional charge of Director General, Special Protection Force.

Mahesh Muralidhar Bhagwat, IPS (1995), Additional Director General of Police (L&O), holds the full additional charge of Additional Director General of Police (Personnel). Charu Sinha, IPS (1996), Additional Director General of Police, CID, holds full additional charge of Director General, Anti-Corruption Bureau.

Anil Kumar, IPS (1996), is posted as Additional Director General of Police (Operations), Greyhounds & Octopus. Vijay Kumar, IPS (1997), is posted as Additional Director General of Police, Intelligence. Devendra Singh Chauhan, IPS (1997), 

Principal Secretary to Government, CAF&CS Department, is posted as Additional Director General of Police, Multizone-II. Vikram Singh Mann, IPS (1998), Additional Commissioner of Police, L&O, Hyderabad, is posted as Director General, Telangana Disaster Response & Fire Services.

M. Stephen Raveendra, IPS (1999), is posted as Commissioner, Civil Supplies and Ex-Officio Principal Secretary to Government, CAF&CS Department.

Other IPS officers reassigned include M. Srinivasulu (2006) as Additional Commissioner of Police, Crimes, Hyderabad City; Tafseer Iqubal (2008) as Joint Commissioner of Police, L&O, Hyderabad City and a few others Ends//

Sajjanar returns to policing as Hyderabad’s new top cop 

V C Sajjanar, a 1996-batch IPS officer, has been appointed as the new Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad, succeeding C V Anand, who has been posted as Special Chief Secretary (Home). Sajjanar  began his career as ASP in Jangaon and Pulivendula. He went on to serve as SP in Nalgonda, Kadapa, Guntur, Warangal, and Medak, besides stints with the CID (Economic Offences), OCTOPUS, and as APSP Commandant. Rising through DIG and IG ranks, he worked in the Intelligence wing until 2018. Sajjanar then served as Cyberabad Police Commissioner (2018–2021) and later as Managing Director of TSRTC from September 2021. Known for his diverse policing experience, he returns to head Hyderabad police.
