City Police have arrested BJP Legislative Party Leader Alleti Maheshwar Reddy today. He was taken into custody while he was trying to support the BJYM activists who attempted to storm the assembly. Along with Maheshwar Reddy, BJYM activists were also arrested by the police. Subsequently, Maheshwar Reddy was shifted to the Boyinapalli police station.
BJYM activists attempted to storm the assembly in protest against the state government's auction of 400 acres of the Hyderabad Central University (HCU) land. Maheshwar Reddy expressed his support for them and joined the protest. As a result, several BJYM activists were arrested along with Maheshwar Reddy.
They were then brought to the assembly in a police vehicle. Maheshwar Reddy protested against being taken in the police vehicle without being allowed to exit. He demanded to know as to why they were kept in the police vehicle for two hours and questioned as to how they could be arrested while on their way to the assembly. He demanded the release of the arrested BJYM activists.
