BRS Working President K T Rama Rao has claimed that the Congress government in Telangana has lost public confidence and asserted that the party is heading towards an inevitable political decline. Addressing a special review meeting with Hyderabad GHMC elected representatives and senior party leaders at the residence of former Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav in Jubilee Hills, KTR alleged that even an internal survey commissioned by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy reflected widespread public dissatisfaction with the government's performance.
According to KTR, the survey reportedly indicated that if Assembly elections were held immediately, the BRS would secure around 78 seats and return to power. He further claimed that similar conclusions had emerged from opinion polls conducted by two media organisations as well as assessments by Central and State intelligence agencies. KTR said these surveys suggested that a majority of people wanted former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) to return to office.
KTR alleged that the Chief Minister's recent statements were a result of mounting pressure after becoming aware of the government's declining popularity. He accused the Congress government of attempting to divert public attention from governance failures by making misleading claims on issues ranging from the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project to farmer welfare schemes. He further alleged that the Congress had failed to implement its guarantees, declarations and election promises, leading to widespread public disappointment across various sections of society.
He maintained that the people now view the BRS as the only credible political alternative in Telangana and claimed that other opposition parties, including the BJP, have failed to emerge as viable options.
During the meeting, KTR also reviewed the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and instructed party leaders to closely monitor the process across Hyderabad. He expressed concern over the slow pace of the exercise, alleging inadequate training and preparedness of Booth Level Officers, particularly in densely populated urban areas.
He directed party leaders and Booth Level Assistants to ensure that no eligible voter loses their voting rights and to remain vigilant against duplicate or bogus voter registrations. KTR said the BRS would continue to raise issues faced by voters during the SIR process before the Election Commission while strengthening coordination at the booth level across Hyderabad.
