Hyderabad: Doctors at CARE Hospitals, Malakpet, successfully performed an emergency angioplasty on a 49-year-old man who was brought in with severe chest pain and cardiogenic shock. The patient had suffered a cardiac arrest at a local hospital, where CPR, ventilator support, and thrombolysis were administered, but his condition remained critical.
On arrival at CARE Hospitals, his blood pressure was dangerously low, and his heart’s ejection fraction was only 40%. An emergency angiogram revealed a 70–80% blockage in the left main coronary artery and a clot in the left anterior descending artery. Dr. Naveen Kumar Cheruku, Senior Interventional Cardiologist, performed an image-guided PCI, placing a stent from the left main to LAD artery. The procedure restored blood flow, and the patient was taken off the ventilator and discharged after five days in stable condition. CARE Hospitals highlighted that rapid recognition, expert intervention, and teamwork were crucial in saving his life.
