A case has been registered following a complaint by Telugu actor Chiranjeevi, who alleges that certain websites are circulating AI-generated deep fake and morphed videos using his name, image, and likeness to depict him in obscene content.
According to the complaint, these videos are entirely fabricated, created with artificial intelligence, and distort the actor's facial features to place him in inappropriate and vulgar contexts. Chiranjeevi claims that these videos are severely damaging his reputation and public image, causing irreparable harm to his decades of goodwill.
The complaint led to the registration of a case under relevant sections of the IT Act, the BNS, and the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, 1986, at the Cyber Crime Police Station on October 25.
Police officials have stated that further investigation is underway. The actor also pointed out that this issue is not an isolated incident but part of a coordinated effort by these websites to cross-promote and repost each other's content, amplifying its reach and visibility.
In his complaint, Chiranjeevi has called for an immediate criminal and technical investigation into those responsible for creating, uploading, hosting, and distributing these fake videos.
He has also requested that all such fabricated content be taken down, including from any mirror or affiliated sites. Recently, a City Civil Court issued an interim order restraining various entities from using Chiranjeevi's name, image, or associated titles without permission.
