The celestial wedding of Goddess Balkampet Yellamma took place on a grand scale on Tuesday, attracting a large number of devotees to the temple to witness the festivities.
Endowment Minister Konda Surekha presented a silk sari on behalf of the State government. Among those in attendance were Hyderabad district In-charge Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, GHMC Mayor Gadwala Vijaya Lakshmi, MP Anil Kumar Yadav, along with other elected representatives and officials. The celestial wedding ceremony was conducted by the priests at 11:51 AM.
During the event, Minister Ponnam Prabhakar noted that the wedding ceremony was celebrated in Balkampet with great enthusiasm in the presence of many devotees. He highlighted that the entire State government had prayed to the Goddess for abundant rainfall and the well-being of the crops. "Recently, there have been several tragic events, such as fires and plane crashes. I hope that the Goddess will wholeheartedly bless the people of Telangana and the city of Hyderabad," Ponnam stated.
Meanwhile, Joint Police Commissioner (Traffic) Joel Davis said the traffic restrictions will be in place until July 2 during the Balkampet Yellamma Kalyanam and Rathtsavam. Vehicles heading towards Fatehnagar from Greenlands, Matha temple and Satyam theater will be diverted from SR Nagar T-Junction and allowed to proceed towards Fatehnagar via SR Nagar community hall, Abhilasha Towers, BKGuda cross road, Sriram Nagar and Sanathnagar.
