In a significant development for Andhra Pradesh’s tourism sector, the Union Government has approved Rs. 97.52 crore under the Swadesh Darshan Scheme 2.0 for the comprehensive development of Suryalanka Beach. State Tourism Minister Kandula Durgesh announced the approval, highlighting the successful efforts made by the state government in securing these crucial funds.

Minister Durgesh stated that the funds will be utilized to upgrade Suryalanka Beach to international standards, making it a prime tourist attraction. “Very soon, Suryalanka Beach will be transformed with state-of-the-art infrastructure, providing an unparalleled experience to visitors,” he said. The development will include enhanced amenities, eco-friendly initiatives, and world-class facilities aimed at boosting both domestic and international tourism.

The approval follows Minister Durgesh’s recent visit to New Delhi, where he met Union Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and requested financial assistance for the project. The state’s tourism department had already submitted detailed proposals outlining the necessary upgrades required to make Suryalanka Beach a premier tourist destination. Expressing gratitude to Minister Shekhawat for honoring his commitment, Durgesh thanked the Union Government for its continued support of Andhra Pradesh’s tourism initiatives.

Minister Durgesh emphasized that the development will focus on creating essential infrastructure such as improved sanitation facilities, designated recreational zones, and eco-friendly tourism initiatives. “Suryalanka Beach will soon be recognized as a model clean and green beach,” he stated.

The minister also acknowledged the unwavering support of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan in advancing the tourism sector. “Their vision and leadership are instrumental in driving the tourism growth agenda,” he remarked.

The approval for Suryalanka Beach follows previous funding allocations by the Central Government, including Rs. 172.34 crore sanctioned under various schemes for the development of the Akhanda Godavari and Gandikota projects. Minister Durgesh assured that efforts are ongoing to secure additional funds for further tourism-related projects across the state.
