Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Monday launched one of his strongest attacks yet on the opposition YSR Congress Party, accusing it of orchestrating a series of conspiracies, misinformation campaigns and politically motivated incidents aimed at destabilising the coalition government’s governance agenda.

Addressing a large public gathering during the “Pedala Sevalo” programme in Chamavaram village of Tuni constituency, the Chief Minister alleged that YSRCP leaders were attempting to create unrest in the state out of frustration over losing power.

“We are working day and night to rebuild Andhra Pradesh after years of destructive governance. While we are focused on development and welfare, the opposition is busy creating controversies and conspiracies,” Chandrababu said.

Referring to the opposition as the Goddali Party, the Chief Minister claimed the YSRCP had a history of using political dramas and misinformation for electoral gains. He cited several recent incidents, including the vandalisation of former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy’s statue in Nandyal, alleging that the accused was himself a YSRCP worker. “Within 20 minutes the police identified the culprit. It turned out to be a YSRCP activist. Yet attempts were made to blame others and gain political sympathy,” he said.

Chandrababu also referred to the murder of former minister Y. S. Vivekananda Reddy, claiming the truth had eventually emerged despite efforts to portray the incident differently. He further accused the opposition of trying to politicise the recently completed Mega DSC teacher recruitment process despite the government conducting it through a transparent, computer-based system.

According to the Chief Minister, the government overcame 241 court cases and successfully completed teacher recruitment using multiple question banks and strict safeguards to prevent irregularities.

“People must remain vigilant. Politics should be based on values and public service, not conspiracies and hatred,” he remarked.

While devoting a significant portion of his speech to attacking the opposition, Chandrababu also highlighted the coalition government’s welfare and development initiatives. He said more than Rs 65,000 crore had been distributed under the NTR Bharosa pension scheme since July 2024 and noted that monthly pensions had been increased substantially despite the state’s financial challenges.

The Chief Minister reiterated that the government had attracted investment commitments worth Rs 23 lakh crore in the past 23 months, which he said would generate employment opportunities for nearly 23 lakh youth. He also highlighted major projects including the Visakhapatnam Railway Zone, Google Data Centre, ArcelorMittal steel project and Green Ammonia investments near Kakinada.

As Andhra Pradesh approaches the second anniversary of the coalition government’s victory on June 4, Chandrababu used the occasion to draw a sharp contrast between the coalition’s government’s developmental model and the opposition’s politics of disruption.
