Clean-up event held at Irrum Manzil on eve of World Heritage Day

On the Occasion of World Heritage Day 2026, the Quli Qutub Shah Urban Development Authority(QQSUDA) on Saturday hosted a clean-up and treasure hunt event at Irrum Manzil Palace, in collaboration with the Roads and Buildings Department and Deccan Archive. Special Chief Secretary, Municipal Administration&Urban Development Jayesh Ranjan highlighted the site’s historical importance and it’s potential for conservation and adaptive reuse under the upcoming Heritage Partner Scheme by the Telangana Government.

Irrum Manzil, meaning "Paradise Mansion," was built in the late 19th century by Nawab Fakhr al-Mulk, a member of the Salar Jung family who served in the administration of the Nizam of Hyderabad. After Independence, it was repurposed for government use, housing departments like the State Archives and Public Works Department and recently the Irrigation and Roads and Buildings Departments

Administrator QQSUDA, P Gouthami highlighted the importance of collaboration and protecting our heritage for the future generations and announced an annual calendar, with monthly events for heritage awareness and conservation.

Waste collection drive held at Archeology Musuem

Hyderabad: A cleanliness and sustainable waste collection drive was conducted on Saturday at the Telangana State Archaeology Museum, near Assembly Metro Station. The initiative was led by Prof. Arjun Rao Kuthadi, Director, Department of Heritage, Telangana, along with Tourism DTO S. Prabhakar, senior officials from the Archaeology Department, OSD Raju, DD Nagaraju Naik, and other dignitaries. The drive also saw active participation from members of Swachh Bharat Urban and Swachh Bharat Urban Yashasvi teams. With the support of Green Earth Integrated Facility, a structured reverse collection drive was implemented. The collected waste included 700 kgs of textile waste, 200 kgs of books and paper waste and 600 kgs of plastic waste. All collected materials were systematically channelized for recycling and responsible processing. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from citizens across Hyderabad.
