Technology adoption and farmer collectivisation are emerging as critical pillars for achieving India’s food security and agricultural self-reliance, experts said at the IMC Agriculture Conclave 2026 held in Mumbai on Friday. Addressing the conclave themed ‘Sustainability & Climate Tech for Atmanirbharta’, former Maharashtra Additional Chief Secretary Dr Sudhir Kumar Goel stressed that small and marginal farmers need collective resource-sharing to adopt technologies like AI and IoT for higher productivity and incomes.
IMC Chamber President Sunita Ramnathkar highlighted concerns over climate change, rising imports and resource depletion, calling for climate-smart farming solutions. IMC Agriculture Committee Chairman Aashay Doshi warned that the West Asia conflict and Hormuz Strait disruptions could trigger fertiliser shortages and threaten India’s food and nutrition security.
