The Meteorological Department has forecast moderate to heavy rains in several districts of Telangana on Sunday and Monday. The officials have advised the public to remain alert, as gusty winds are expected to accompany the rainfall due to a low-pressure area formed over the northwest Bay of Bengal. The department has issued a rainfall forecast for the eastern and northern regions of Telangana. Moderate rains are likely in the districts of Adilabad, Asifabad, Jagtial, Mancherial, Peddapalli and Karimnagar. A 'Yellow Alert' has been issued for the Bhupalpally, Mulugu, and Mahabubabad districts. Heavy rains are also expected in Warangal, Nizamabad, and Bhadradri Kothagudem districts.
The Meteorological officials have also indicated that moderate to heavy rains were likely in various parts of Hyderabad. The city has remained overcast since Sunday morning. The Officials have advised the residents to stay alert, as moderate to heavy rainfall is anticipated in several areas of the city during the afternoon and night hours.
The Officials have warned that the gusty winds with speeds ranging from 40 to 50 kmph are likely to accompany the rains and have urged the public to exercise caution. They advised people to avoid taking shelter under trees or near electric poles and hoardings during the rains and gusty winds and asked them move to safer locations. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has stated that the heavy rains accompanied by thunder and lightning were likely in several districts of Andhra Pradesh including the Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema regions.
