Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has responded swiftly to the detention of Andhra fishermen by the Bangladesh Navy, directing officials to take all necessary steps to secure their safe return. Despite being on an official visit to Dubai, the Chief Minister reviewed the situation with senior officials soon after learning of the incident.
According to reports, a group of fishermen from Vizianagaram district ventured into the sea for fishing when they inadvertently crossed into Bangladesh’s territorial waters, leading to their detention by the Bangladeshi naval authorities. The matter was immediately brought to the notice of the Chief Minister, who instructed officials to act without delay.
Naidu emphasized that the safety and welfare of the fishermen were of utmost priority and directed authorities to coordinate closely with the Union Government and the Indian Embassy to expedite diplomatic communication with Bangladesh for their early release.
He also instructed officials to maintain constant contact with the families of the detained fishermen, assuring them that the government is extending full support and making every possible effort to bring their loved ones home safely. “No family should feel helpless, the state stands firmly behind them,” the Chief Minister conveyed through officials.
The state administration is actively liaising with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) to ensure that the fishermen are released at the earliest. Naidu’s quick intervention from abroad underscores his commitment to the safety and well-being of Andhra Pradesh citizens, even while managing international engagements.
