Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy directed officials to ensure that MMTS services are tailored to passenger needs in the core urban areas of Hyderabad.

During a review meeting held at the Assembly Committee Hall on Thursday, the Chief Minister expressed concern over the declining number of MMTS passengers in recent years and called for corrective measures.

The Chief Minister suggested that steps should be taken to increase frequency during peak office hours to handle commuter demand efficiently.

He recommended that measures be implemented to increase train frequency during peak office hours to effectively manage commuter demand. Furthermore, he emphasized the importance of adhering strictly to schedules to ensure reliable service and suggested the exploration of mini-bus services to enhance access to MMTS stations that are situated away from primary thoroughfares.

Officials should ensure the availability of adequate passenger amenities at all stations to improve the commuting experience, concentrate on last-mile connectivity to attract additional riders, and devise strategies to augment non-fare revenue streams.

The Chief Minister emphasised that better facilities and seamless connectivity are essential to encourage commuters to prefer MMTS.

During the meeting, officials were instructed to conduct a detailed study and submit a report on increasing ridership, improving infrastructure and  enhancing passenger convenience.

The meeting was attended by Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao, senior officials, including Jayesh Ranjan, Vikas Raj, and representatives from GHMC, HMRL, and South Central Railway.
