Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, on Thursday, urged British companies to join as partners in the Musi Riverfront Development Project, being taken up on a grand scale to promote Hyderabad as one of the best living cities in the world.
A British delegation led by High Commissioner Lindy Cameron called on the Chief Minister at Hyderabad. During the meeting, the CM explained the state government’s vision to position Telangana as a hub for global investments and innovation. He briefed the delegation about the state’s new education policy and outlined the government’s commitment to boost industry, skill development and employment opportunities.
The Chief Minister appealed to British companies to explore investment opportunities in the pharma sector, electric vehicles, future city development, and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC)-focused projects being anchored from Telangana. He stressed that the state government is committed to providing world-class infrastructure and a business-friendly ecosystem to global investors.
Responding to the CM’s appeal, High Commissioner Lindy Cameron assured that the UK government is keen to extend cooperation, particularly in the fields of education and technology. She conveyed the UK’s readiness to provide training to government teachers and professors in Telangana, helping them adopt modern teaching practices and global standards.
On the education front, Cameron announced that meritorious students from Telangana will now benefit from the prestigious Chevening Scholarships through a co-funding arrangement between the UK government and the state. This initiative is expected to open greater opportunities for Telangana’s youth to pursue higher education in reputed UK institutions.
The CM also requested the High Commissioner to facilitate the establishment of UK university campuses in Hyderabad, which would enable Telangana students to access quality British higher education without the need to travel abroad. He emphasized that Hyderabad’s global connectivity, cosmopolitan culture and strong academic ecosystem make it an ideal base for such ventures.
The discussions also touched upon emerging sectors such as green energy, climate action and sustainable urban development. Both sides agreed to explore collaborative opportunities in these areas in the near future. Deputy High Commissioner Gareth Wynn Owen, Political Economy Advisor Nalini Raghuraman, CM’s Special Secretary Ajith Reddy were present during the meeting.
