‘Coffee with a Cop’ focuses on cyber safety

The sixth edition of the "Coffee with a Cop" initiative was held at the Wipro campus in Gopanpally on Thursday, bringing together young professionals to discuss cyber safety, responsible digital behaviour, and emerging online threats. The programme was organised by the Society for Cyberabad Security Council (SCSC) in collaboration with the Cyberabad Police and Telangana Rising under the theme "Connected, Not Consumed: Navigating the Digital Age."

Hosted by Wipro Centre Head Venkat Seshu, the event featured an interactive session led by Sai Sri, Superintendent of Police, Cybercrime and Operations, Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB). She highlighted the growing risks of online financial fraud, phishing, QR code scams, fake investment schemes, social engineering, AI-generated deepfakes, OTP frauds, password security, and digital privacy.

Participants raised questions on protecting themselves from cybercrime, securing social media accounts, identifying digital threats, and responding quickly after becoming victims of online fraud. Sai Sri urged participants to verify information before trusting it and stressed that awareness and good cyber hygiene remain the strongest safeguards against cybercrime. She also shared her experiences of balancing her roles as a senior police officer and mother while promoting digital awareness among young people.

SCSC CEO Naved Alam Khan spoke about the organisation's community safety initiatives and encouraged greater public participation in programmes conducted with the Cyberabad Police. Moderated by Rashmi Srivastava, Director of Strategic Program Execution at SCSC, the session concluded with a message that responsible digital choices and awareness are essential for a safer online future.
