Collector compliments Motor Merchants Association for encouraging poor children

NTR District Collector Dr.G.Lakshmisha said on Sunday that the Andhra Motor Merchants Association (AMMA)’s encouragement to the children of poor families in Vijayawada will be a boon to their golden future. Collector Lakshmisha was the chief guest at the distribution of scholarships to students under the aegis of AMMA in Vijayawada. Speaking on the occasion, he complimented that AMMA has been supporting families working in the automobile sector for the past three decades. This year, 408 sudents have been given Rs 16.50 lakhs as scholarships, he informed.

Mentioning that the Chief Minister had brought in the P4 policy for building a society free from poverty, he said that it was heartening to know that AMMA has come forward to adopt nearly 300 families. The courage that there is a big man behind their family is a big assurance for poor families, the Collector stated. He appreciated AMMA’s efforts in adopting Boyapati Sivaramakrishnaiah Municipal School in Vijayawada.

Speaking on the occasion, Andhra Motor Merchants Association(AMMA) President Garapati Satish Babu said that the association is conducting regular service programs.  He informed that more than Rs 1 crore has been provided as financial assistance so far to students, employees working in automobile shops in Autonagar and Governorpet and also their family members apart from constructing an old age home in Kanuru at a cost of Rs 60 lakhs. He added that during the Covid period and also during the Budameru floods last year lot of assistance was provided to the affected people.
