Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy reaffirmed his government’s commitment to women’s empowerment, stating that Telangana will return to power with the strong support of women voters. Speaking at the WE Hub Women Acceleration Program at JRC Convention Centre, Hyderabad, he outlined a vision to transform Telangana into a trillion-dollar economy with women at the forefront.
The Chief Minister emphasized the Congress party’s legacy of supporting women leaders, citing former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and Congress leader Sonia Gandhi. He announced plans to create one crore women millionaires through targeted programs and financial assistance.
Key initiatives include strengthening women-led self-help groups (SHGs) with the allocation of 1,000 MW solar power projects, with an additional 1,000 MW to be awarded based on performance. Women’s SHGs are already managing schools, producing uniforms, and entering industries traditionally dominated by corporate giants.
To further support women entrepreneurs, SHG products will be presented as official gifts to foreign delegates, and dedicated stalls at Shilparamam and “Indira Women Stalls” will enhance their visibility. Miss World contestants will visit these stalls on May 21, promoting Telangana’s women entrepreneurs globally.
CM Revanth Reddy directed officials to conduct a special drive in urban areas to integrate more women into SHGs and announced the creation of Wealth and Health ID Cards for SHG members, consolidating financial, income, and health data for better support.
The Mahalaxmi scheme, which provides free RTC travel for women, has generated Rs 2,000 crore in revenue for TGRTC, demonstrating the economic benefits of empowerment. WE Hub CEO Sita Pallacholla, in her opening remarks, emphasized that transformation begins at home, highlighting the role of women in grassroots innovation.
