The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) launched a membership registration app for the Congress Party’s Disabled Persons’ Wing at Gandhi Bhavan on Thursday. The app aims to simplify registration and enhance political participation among people with disabilities. TPCC President and MLC Mahesh Kumar Goud inaugurated the initiative, emphasizing the party’s commitment to protecting disabled rights and strengthening the wing using modern technology.
Muthineni Veeraiah said the website aims to include one lakh disabled members and address their issues more effectively. He highlighted initiatives by the Congress government in Telangana, including an additional two lakh rupees under Kalyanalakshmi for married disabled couples. Reservations of 4% in court jobs, 5% in higher education, 5% in Indiramma houses, and 5% in Rajiv Yuva Vikasam were provided. While the previous government allocated 64 crores to the Disabled Persons’ Corporation in ten years, the current government has given 100 crores in just two years.
Veeraiah added that 8,000 disabled people will receive free equipment, such as scooters, laptops, and battery-operated wheelchairs this year. Programs like Bala Bharosa for children, Veeraiya for the Disabled, and 7,000 self-help groups are helping strengthen the disabled socially and financially. The initiative also provides 40% disability-specific facilities and reservation in police and administration department jobs.
The launch was attended by Greater Hyderabad Disabled Wing President Desagani Satish Goud, State General Secretary Chari, Hyderabad District President Rajini, Rangareddy District President Suresh, and other party leaders and activists.
