The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) received a significant boost in Telangana on Tuesday, as senior Congress leader Ali Masqati and former Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader Shakeela Reddy officially joined the party.
BRS Working President K T Rama Rao welcomed the new members at his residence in Nandinagar, presenting them with the party’s symbolic pink scarves.
Speaking at the event, Ali Masqati praised the BRS as a truly secular party and cited KTR’s dynamic leadership as a key reason for his decision to switch sides.
‘The current Congress government lacks secularism. Under KCR’s leadership, minorities in Telangana saw substantial progress through various welfare schemes. Unfortunately, this focus has been lost under the present regime,’ he said, criticizing Congress’s recent performance. ‘KCR is a genuine secular leader who has ensured inclusive growth and visionary governance for all communities,’ Masqati added.
Shakeela Reddy, a senior leader from the TDP, also announced her resignation from the party and her decision to join the BRS.
‘I have chosen to work under the leadership of former Chief Minister KCR and KTR. Telangana achieved historic progress during the BRS rule, but the current government has failed to introduce any meaningful initiatives. People are now looking once again to KCR for stable and progressive leadership,’ she stated.
Reddy also pledged to actively support the BRS candidate in the upcoming Jubilee Hills by-election, expressing confidence in a clear victory for the party.
Young political aspirant Rohit Sharma also joined the BRS during the event, expressing admiration for KTR’s leadership.
‘I am inspired by KTR’s vision. I’ve joined the BRS to contribute to Telangana’s growth under his guidance,’ he said.
Welcoming the new members, KTR expressed optimism that their addition would energize the party and strengthen its mission for the development and welfare of Telangana.
