Constitution binds us as one nation: Laxman

Rajya Sabha MP and senior BJP leader Dr K Laxman on Wednesday asserted that the Indian Constitution is rooted in the ethos of "Sanatana Dharma" and unites the citizens as one nation. He urged the people to uphold the legacy of the World's largest written Constitution. Inaugurating the photo exhibition marking the Constitution Day, organized by the Central Bureau of Communication (CBC) at Keshav memorial educational institutions, Narayanaguda, Dr Laxman called the Constitution a 'living document that ensures equality through balanced rights and duties'. 

Recalling an event from PM Narendra Modi's tenure as Gujarat Chief Minister, he said a grand procession was once held with the Constitution placed in a decorated ambari, symbolizing reverence for democratic values. After becoming Prime Minister, Modi declared November 26 as Constitution Day, which has been observed nationwide since 2015, he noted. On this occasion, Dr Laxman paid homage to Dr BR Ambedkar, Dr Rajendra Prasad and other Constitution framers.

In her welcome address, Shruti Patil, Additional Director General, PIB and CBC, said the day commemorates the adoption of the Constitution in 1949 and highlighted the CBC’s initiatives - photo panels, quizzes and selfie booths - to engage youth with Constitutional values.The exhibition features 33 panels showcasing the evolution of the Constitution and a special segment on 150 years of Vande Mataram. A spot Online Quiz, digital selfie kiosk and selfie point have been set up to attract students and visitors.
