Construction of the long-awaited Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) headquarters in Amaravati has reached its final stage, with officials confirming that the new building is nearly complete. Authorities are expediting the remaining finishing works to ensure the office can be inaugurated on October 13.

The inauguration was initially scheduled to coincide with Vijayadashami, but heavy rains in recent weeks delayed construction. Officials have since directed the contractor to complete all pending works by October 11 and formally hand over the building.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is slated to inaugurate the new headquarters. The state government has planned to house multiple key departments in the facility, including the CRDA, the Amaravati Development Corporation Limited (ADCL), and the Directorate of Municipal Administration (CDMA). Chambers for Municipal Administration Minister P. Narayana and the department’s Principal Secretary will also be located within the new premises.

For the past several years, CRDA operations have been run from temporary offices at Lenin Centre in Vijayawada. With the new building ready, officials say Amaravati will finally have a permanent seat for its urban development institutions, symbolising renewed momentum in the state capital’s development.

The completion of the CRDA headquarters is being seen as a significant milestone in Andhra Pradesh’s capital region planning, reflecting the government’s push to accelerate Amaravati’s infrastructure projects after delays in recent years. The inauguration is expected to mark not only a functional shift of key administrative bodies but also a political signal of commitment to Amaravati as the state capital.
