The Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) has initiated steps to make capital Amaravati eco-friendly. It is taking steps in this direction with the suggestions of the World Bank and ADB. In line with the ambitious plan to develop it into a green city keeping in mind the future requirements, the exercise to get green billing certification for buildings has started. Steps will be taken for this validation for buildings that have already started and are in the final stages. With the start of the reconstruction work, the workshop and awareness programs for the officials have been completed to achieve this certification.

The aim is to significantly reduce carbon emissions and keep temperatures under control. The government hopes to avoid any adverse effects on the environment by reducing the carbon footprint as much as possible. They are being sensitized with the officials of the IGBC (Indian Green Building Council), which gives them the certificate. Solar panels will be installed on buildings to greatly reduce the consumption of conventional electricity. During the electrification of buildings, tools and equipment that will help in saving electricity will be used.

Water conservation is part of this. The focus will be on reuse of water. Sewerage Treatment Plants are being set up in every building complex. By reducing the use of cement and mostly using GBBS (ground granulated blast furnace slag), concrete structures are strengthened. They absorb less heat. Taking care of proper lighting and ventilation will greatly reduce the consumption of electricity. Indirectly, it is good for the environment.

The government expects that public health will improve as a result of these measures. So that the standard of living of the people also increases. Concessions are applicable to these buildings. Keeping this in mind, green standards will be followed in respect of the remaining works related to those which are already in the process of completion.
