Women and Children Safety Wing (W&CSW) along with Anti-Human Trafficking (AHTU) conducted eleventh session of ‘Operation Smile’ convergence meeting at main conference hall in Cyberabad Police Commissioner Office.
This meeting was held regarding functioning of eleventh session of Operation Smile which is formed to trace out missing children and rescue children from begging, rag picking, child labour, trafficking children and bonded labour.
Cyberabad Police launched eleventh session of Operation Smile from a January 1 to 31, 2025 to rescue and rehabilitate the homeless children and those forced into child labour and identifying begging children, rag picking children formed special teams comprising of Sub Inspector, four Police constables including one Woman Police Constable.
A total of 11 teams were formed to identify and rescue and rehabilitate children trapped in trafficking. In this convergence meeting K Srujana, DCP (W&CSW), Cyberabad stated that “We will be using the facial recognition software application ‘Darphan’ for identifying missing children and unidentified children, children who were separated from their families due to various reasons.
K Srujana, DCP (Women & Children Safety Wing) Cyberabad will be supervising the operations of the teams. The eleventh session of Operation Smile will continue till the end of January with the support of the stakeholder departments officials” told by B James Babu, Inspector of Police, AHTU, Cyberabad.
The police have identified clusters, hotspots where children were found forced into labour based on the data of the previous cases. “Teams along with other stakeholder departments will coordinate the rescue and rehabilitation work,” he said.
DCP Srujana requested that all stake holder departments should cooperate and coordinate with the eleventh session of the Operation Smile teams, for which all the above stakeholder department officials gave assurance that they will extend their co-operation in this operation.
