Former President Ram Nath Kovind on Sunday praised Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya as a rare leader without any foes or rivals in public life. Speaking after releasing Dattatreya's autobiography in Telugu 'Prajala kathe, naa atma katha' (story of people is my life story), he said Dattatreya is a personality who is a friend to all.
Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy extolled Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya for rising to the rank of Governor from Gowliguda galli (narrow street). Dattatreya maintained core values and never distanced himself from people despite adorning many big positions during his entire political stint.
The CM recollected his personal relations with the Haryana Governor and his close observation of the senior leader's political journey. The word " Aajata Shatruvu "( who has no enemies )is perfectly suitable to Dattatreya, he said comparing Dattatreya with equal stature of national leader and former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in the state.
Revanth Reddy observed that every political leader admired Dattatreya with the same respect even if he is not in power. The popular' Alai Bhalai ' program organised by Dattatreya every year has been receiving overwhelming response from all party leaders and it is a testament to the leader's statesmanship.
Appealing to the budding politicians and those who aspired to become future leaders to learn from Haryana Governor , the CM said that only two leaders - P Janardhan Reddy ( PJR) and Dattatreya will come into our thoughts when the plight of the poorer sections of Hyderabad City came to light. PJR and Dattatreya are also inspiring my government in taking people centric decisions.
Former President Ram Nath Kovind praised Dattatreya as a statesman who transcended political rivalries, describing him as a leader who embraced all communities and remained respected across the spectrum. “He has no enemies in public life. Even during his imprisonment in the Emergency era, he uplifted fellow inmates by sharing the wisdom of the Bhagavad Gita,” he said.
Former Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu highlighted Dattatreya’s steadfast ideological commitment in an era of frequent party-switching. “He lived entirely for the people, sacrificing personal life,” said Naidu.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu described the occasion as special, praising Dattatreya as a true gentleman and Ajatashatru. He traced his rise from a dedicated Swayamsevak to a national leader devoted to jana hitam (people’s welfare) and mathala samarasyam (communal harmony). Naidu also recalled Dattatreya’s humanitarian efforts during the 1977 cyclone and his close associations with prominent leaders like Modi, Amit Shah, Vajpayee, and Advani.
The book’s publisher, Vijay Kumar of EMESCO, termed the autobiography a tribute to discipline, dedication, and selfless service—qualities that define Dattatreya’s life.
The event was attended by Governors of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, and Tripura, Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy, MPs, ministers, senior journalists, and Telangana ministers Bhatti Vikramarka and Ponnam Prabhakar, among others.
