In a daring broad daylight robbery, five armed assailants targeted a jewellery showroom on Jagitial Road in Karimnagar town on Sunday, leaving four employees injured and fleeing with valuable gold ornaments.
According to preliminary reports, the incident occurred when the showroom staff were attending to customers and displaying jewellery from the safe. The assailants, arriving on two motorcycles, entered the store posing as customers. One of them initially requested a 20 gram gold chain, followed by others who joined under the pretext of purchasing ornaments. Within moments, the group turned aggressive, brandishing firearms and forcing staff members to kneel down.
When the employees and security personnel attempted to resist, the robbers opened fire. Four staff members, including a sales manager, sustained gunshot injuries. One of the injured is reported to be in critical condition. The victims were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital, and later arrangements were made to transfer them to Hyderabad for advanced treatment.
After executing the robbery, the assailants escaped swiftly with a cache of expensive jewellery. The exact value of the stolen ornaments is yet to be determined.
Police officials, along with forensic teams, rushed to the scene and initiated a detailed investigation. CCTV footage from the showroom and nearby areas is being thoroughly examined to identify the culprits and trace their escape route.
Authorities suspect the involvement of an interstate robbery gang, noting that the assailants reportedly communicated in both Hindi and Telugu. Investigators are also probing the possibility of local assistance in planning or executing the crime.
Police have launched a manhunt and intensified surveillance across the region to apprehend the accused. Further updates are awaited as the investigation progresses.
