Metro India News | NAKKAPALLI : The Andhra Pradesh government has signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) with ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India) to establish a Skill and Community Development Centre at Nakkapalli in Anakapalli district, combining industry-oriented vocational training with livelihood support for fishermen, farmers, youth and women. The agreement was signed through the Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC), with the proposed centre aimed at improving employment prospects, promoting self-employment and helping local communities benefit from the region’s expanding industrial activity.

Minister for Human Resource Development, Information Technology, Electronics and Communications, and Real-Time Governance Nara Lokesh said the initiative would connect skill development with employment opportunities and strengthen livelihoods in communities around Nakkapalli. The centre is expected to offer vocational training aligned with industry requirements, recognized certification and placement assistance for eligible local youth. It will also conduct programs in fisheries, agriculture and livestock management to help people improve existing livelihood activities.

Special attention will be given to women-led enterprises, skill development and self-employment opportunities. The initiative is intended to improve household incomes and enable residents of Nakkapalli and neighboring areas to participate in the benefits of industrial growth. AM/NS India Director and Vice-President for HR and Administration Ashutosh Telang said the partnership with APSSDC would help eligible young people access industry-relevant training, certification and employment support. He also acknowledged the assistance of Anakapalli District Collector and Magistrate Vijaya Krishnan in advancing the initiative.

The LoI was signed by APSSDC Managing Director and CEO G. Ganesh Kumar and Ashutosh Telang. It records the preliminary understanding between the two parties, while detailed arrangements for establishing and operating the center will be finalized through a subsequent Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
