Mancherial district has secured the second position in Telangana in the Performance Grading Index (PGI) 2025–26 released by the Union Ministry of Education, marking a significant improvement in school education standards. The district scored 360 points, up from 324 points in the previous academic year, climbing from third to second place in the state rankings. Jangaon district topped the list with 383 points.

During the current academic year, nearly 320 teachers were appointed to strengthen staffing in government schools. Student enrolment also increased by around 3 percent compared to the previous year, with Mancherial emerging as the top district in admissions. To strengthen supervision, the district constituted eight inspection teams comprising around 50 members, who carried out comprehensive inspections of 485 government schools.

Schools lacking toilet facilities have been identified and upgraded through District Mineral Foundation Trust (DMFT) and MGNREGS funds. Existing toilets have also been repaired and provided with running water facilities. District Collector Kumar Deepak said the administration has placed special emphasis on improving educational standards across the district.

“Teachers have been provided training under the Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) and Learning Improvement Program (LIP), resulting in better scores in professional development. Continuous reviews involving Mandal Education Officers, school complex headmasters and teachers have helped the district secure the second position in the state," he said.
