He has faced intense scrutiny, including Enforcement Directorate (ED), Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), and Income Tax raids and cases, particularly during the BJP-led central government period. In 2019, he spent around 50 days in jail amid personal family challenges, including the passing of his father, still he refused to waver. Courts, including the Supreme Court, later provided relief in several matters, such as quashing a Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) case in 2024.
