ECI finalizes MLC elections schedule for Telangana/AP

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has finalised the schedule for the MLC elections in the Telugu states. The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Monday finalized the notification for the MLC elections to be held under the MLA quota. Elections will be held for five seats in Andhra Pradesh and five seats in Telangana. On March 3, the Election Commission of India (ECI) will release the notification for the MLC elections in the MLA quota.

The last date for filing of nominations is March 10. Nominations filed will be considered on March 11. However, the last date for withdrawal of nominations is March 13. The polling will be held from 9.00 am to 4 pm on March 20. The counting of votes will take place at 5.00 pm on the same day. The results will be out later. The entire election process will end on March 24.

On March 29 this year, the term of many MLCs elected under the MLA quota will end. In Andhra Pradesh, Janga Krishnamurthy, Duvvarapu Rama Rao, Paruchuri Ashok Babu, B. Tirumala Naidu and Yanamala Ramakrishnudu will finish their terms as MLC, whereas in Telangan the terms of Mahboob Ali, Satyavathi Rathod, Seri Subhash Reddy, Mallesham Egge and Mirza Riyazul Hasan will come to an end. In this context, it has become imperative for the Central Election Commission to issue the notification for the MLC elections in the MLA quota.
