Deepam-II scheme: NTR District Collector warns of strict action

NTR district collector Dr G Lakshmisha on Monday said that it will not be tolerated even if an additional rupee is collected from the beneficiaries of free gas cylinders provided under the Deepam-II scheme. He warned that if the complaints are proved, the licenses of the concerned gas agencies will be cancelled. A meeting was held at the Collectorate on Monday under the chairmanship of Collector to discuss the implementation of Deepam-II scheme in the district, IVRS survey reports, action on complaints etc.

The meeting was attended by officials of civil supplies and legal metrology departments as well as representatives of various LPG dealers' association. Speaking on the occasion, the Collector said that the Government has paid special attention to the transparent and accountable implementation of the Deepam-II scheme and the progress of implementation of the scheme is marked by the satisfaction of the beneficiaries and the money credited to the beneficiaries accounts within 48 hours. 

He said that so far Rs 32.19 crore has been deposited in the accounts of 4,05,611 people under the free gas scheme. He mentioned that so far how cause notices were issued to nine LPG dealers in the first phase and five in the second phase based on the IVRS survey.  He urged the 52 agencies in the district to provide services with commitment and warned that action would be taken under the AP Petroleum Products Act, MRP Act, etc. in case of any irregularities. 

He said that there is no need to pay a single rupee more than the price printed on the receipt and if there is a difference in weight at the time when the customer takes the gas cylinder, then the weight can be checked by the delivery boys. Collector Lakshmisha directed the officials of civil supplies, weights and measures to intensify their efforts at the field level. DSO A. Papa Rao, District Legal Metrology Deputy Controller Krishna Chaitanya, representatives of LPG Dealers Association and others participated in the meeting.
