The Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, during his tour of his native Kodangal Assembly constituency on Monday, laid the foundation stone for development works worth Rs. 103 crore, emphasizing education and irrigation as top priorities to transform the region into a model of progress. Addressing a large public gathering, the CM underscored that "the happiness of our girls and women is the cornerstone of economic development," highlighting women-centric initiatives that empower them economically and socially.
The CM visited the HKM Breakfast Kitchen Shed (Centralized Community Kitchen) at Kodangal Market Yard and performed bhoomi puja for the Akshayapatra Foundation's Mid-Day Meals Kitchen, aimed at nourishing 28,000 students across 312 government schools. He flagged off an RTC bus under the Mahila Shakti scheme, operated by the Maddur Mandal Mahila Samakhya, making women owners of public transport assets. Ministers Damodar Rajanarsimha and Vakiti Srihari, MLAs, and corporation chairpersons joined the events.
The foundation stones laid include Rs. 5.83 crore for 28 Anganwadi buildings to support early childhood care, Rs. 5.01 crore for 23 additional classrooms in government schools, and Rs. 3 crore for 10 Gram Panchayat buildings. Additional allocations cover Rs. 3.65 crore for upgrading Banjara Bhavan with facilities like compound walls, dining halls, water supply, and electrification; Rs. 1 crore for a Prohibition & Excise Station; Rs. 1.30 crore for a new Fire Station; Rs. 1.40 crore for a swimming pool; Rs. 4.91 crore for community halls, kitchen sheds, and compound walls; and Rs. 4.45 crore for CC roads and underground drainage systems.
Revanth Reddy reiterated his government's unwavering focus on education, allocating Rs. 5,000 crore for an expansive education campus in Kodangal. "I cannot give you crores, but I can provide your children with invaluable education that elevates lives," he said, vowing to develop Kodangal as an international education hub within 16 months. Initiatives include medical, veterinary, agriculture, paramedical, nursing, engineering colleges, ITIs, integrated residential schools, junior and degree colleges, and a Sainik School. Through Akshayapatra, free breakfast ensures no child studies on an empty stomach, complemented by centralized mid-day meals.
On irrigation, the CM announced the Kodangal Lift Irrigation Project's acceleration, with farmers voluntarily donating land. "In three years, Krishna River waters will irrigate our fields, fulfilling a 70-year dream," he stressed, alongside plans for the Lagacharla Industrial Park's upgrade to global standards, cement industries, and a railway line starting in nine months.
Empowering women further, the CM lauded schemes like Rs. 500 gas cylinders, free RTC bus travel, ownership of 1,000 buses and solar plants, subsidized Sanjeevini rice for poor families, and marketing stalls in Hi-Tech City. Negotiations with Amazon aim to globalize women-produced goods. "Women must compete with Adani and Ambani; their self-respect drives progress," he added, distributing Indiramma sarees and urging officials to ensure reach to every girl.
"Education is the only imperishable asset; Kodangal will attract students statewide like Noida," Revanth Reddy envisioned, calling for apolitical unity. "With women's support, we'll build Indiramma Rajyam for a decade."
