The investigation into the iBomma piracy network has widened after Hyderabad Cyber Crime Police uncovered the use of forged identity documents by the prime accused. Police said suspect Immandi Ravi allegedly operated the piracy platform using fake credentials created in the name of a Bengaluru based professional, V. Prahlad, to evade detection and financial scrutiny.
Officials estimate that the illegal streaming operation generated nearly Rs 20 crore through advertisements and subscriptions routed via multiple accounts. As part of the ongoing probe, authorities have frozen assets worth about Rs 3.5 crore linked to the accused. Investigators are examining digital trails, server access logs and payment gateways to identify associates and the extent of the network.
The case has drawn attention across the Telugu States, highlighting the growing sophistication of online piracy rackets and the challenges faced by enforcement agencies. Police said further arrests and seizures are likely as the investigation progresses.
