YSR Congress Party president and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has intensified his attack on the Chandrababu Naidu government, alleging large-scale irregularities in the Mega DSC recruitment process and demanding a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the matter. Addressing the media at the YSRCP central office in Tadepalli on Thursday, Jagan said the alleged DSC scam would be a key issue during the party’s constituency-level “Vennupotuku Rendellu” protest programmes scheduled for June 12.

Claiming that lakhs of aspirants had pinned their hopes on the recruitment of nearly 16,000 teacher posts, Jagan alleged that the entire process was marred by irregularities, favouritism and corruption. He said videos and complaints had surfaced suggesting that teaching posts were allegedly being sold, raising serious concerns about the credibility of the recruitment exercise.

According to Jagan, the controversy began when the government sidelined the DSC Convener and entrusted both question paper preparation and examination management responsibilities to the SCERT Director. Concentrating such crucial functions under a single authority compromised transparency and created opportunities for manipulation, he alleged.

He referred to reports involving an employee whose data was allegedly deleted after concerns emerged about the recruitment process. The former Chief Minister questioned how far the alleged leak had spread, who had access to the question papers and how much money had changed hands. He argued that only an independent agency such as the CBI could uncover the truth behind the allegations.

Jagan also alleged that the merit list was not displayed at the district level as was traditionally done, but was instead centralized under an online system, reducing transparency and public scrutiny. He further accused the government of manipulating sports quota appointments through special government orders.

The YSRCP chief claimed that candidates under the sports quota were exempted from writing qualifying examinations and were selected based merely on participation certificates. According to him, certificates issued by ruling party legislators and MPs were allegedly used to secure jobs for favoured candidates. He alleged that nearly 270 candidates obtained appointments under the sports quota without appearing for the qualifying examination, while genuine sportspersons, including national-level medal winners, were denied opportunities.

Once the recruitment process was completed, the government allegedly reversed the policy through fresh orders, restoring the requirement of qualifying examinations, Jagan claimed. He described the move as evidence of a carefully planned scam.

Drawing a comparison with the previous YSRCP government, Jagan said his administration had recruited 1.30 lakh employees within four months from notification to appointment without any major controversy. He alleged that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Education Minister Nara Lokesh were politically accountable for the recruitment process and therefore could not be expected to conduct a fair inquiry.

The former Chief Minister also linked the DSC issue to what he described as the government’s failure to fulfil election promises. He said both issues would feature prominently in the June 12 protests across the state.

In a reference to the viral “Janata Cockroach Party” social media trend that gained traction among young people after various examination controversies, Jagan remarked that youth often adopt such forms of protest when they feel betrayed. “This is Gen Z, and Gen Alpha is coming next. If injustice continues, young people will find their own ways to express their anger,” he said.

Reiterating his demand for a CBI investigation, Jagan maintained that only an independent probe could restore confidence among lakhs of unemployed youth who had invested years of preparation in the DSC recruitment process.
