The Malkajgiri Commissionerate police on Saturday arrested four more persons, including a Nepali couple identified as the prime suspects in a major house robbery reported in Jawaharnagar in May.

The arrested were identified as Rajesh, his wife Meena, Daniel Charan, all natives of Nepal, and Kiran from Darjeeling. With these arrests, the police have made significant progress in cracking the case.

Addressing the media, Malkajgiri Commissioner of Police B. Sumathi said the robbery was reported on May 12 by Murali Mohan Narsipuram, an international arbitrator residing at Mohans Golf Enclave in Kowkoor under the Jawaharnagar police station limits. Following the complaint, six special teams were constituted to trace and apprehend the offenders.

Police had earlier arrested four accused — Sunitha alias Sabina, Biswal alias Viswal, Kamal Bahadur Chalaune and Jankar Bahadur Chalaune alias Shankar — and remanded them to judicial custody. Efforts continued to track down the remaining suspects, leading to the arrest of the four accused on Saturday.

According to police, the gang executed the robbery in a pre-planned manner and fled with around 60 tolas of gold ornaments, 15 kilograms of silver articles, two mobile phones, US$3,000 in cash and other valuables from the house. Further investigation is underway.
