GHMC Commissioners told to work on mission mode

24-09-2025 12:00:00 AM

GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan has expressed strong displeasure over the slow progress of key city projects, including the Strategic Road Development Program (SRDP), H-CITI, and SNDP works, and has directed engineers to accelerate their completion immediately.

In a comprehensive review at GHMC Head Office on Tuesday, Commissioner Karnan assessed updates from all city zones. Zonal Commissioners, Project Engineers, and officials from Planning, Irrigation, and Land Acquisition departments presented PowerPoint reports detailing field-level challenges, pending works, and reasons for delays. The Commissioner stressed that projects under SRDP and SN-DP, many of which have been ongoing for several days, must now be executed in “mission mode” to ensure timely completion. He expressed concern that out of 83 lake development works across six zones, only 25 have begun.

Officials were instructed to speed up lake beautification, walking tracks, and drainage works. Karnan warned that officials neglecting responsibilities will face strict action. He clarified that lack of funds is not an issue, directing prompt completion of pending utility shifts and land acquisitions. Any pending issues at the government level should be immediately escalated for clearance. He also emphasized planning with traffic police to prevent congestion around work sites. Engineers were specifically instructed to prepare the Falaknama ROB for inauguration by September 25.

The meeting was attended by Zonal Commissioners Anurag Jayanthi, Hemant Patil, Apoorva Chauhan, Srinivas Reddy, Ravi Kiran, Project Chief Engineer Bhaskar Reddy, Maintenance Chief Engineer Sahadev Ratnakar, and other senior SEs and EEs.
