The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) in association with Telangana State Renewable Energy Development Corporation (TSREDCO) has set up 43 charging stations in the city in a revenue sharing model. Another 40 charging stations are yet to be set up at Rs 1/Kwh.

The low-cost EV charging stations will eliminate charging issues for electric vehicle owners. So far, TGREDCO has installed 83 EV charging stations, with 43 already commissioned and 40 in the process of being commissioned and TGREDCO is set to credit Rs 13,42,411 to GHMC as per the revenue-sharing agreement.

These stations are equipped with high-capacity units to facilitate quick charging at affordable rates. GHMC has partnered with REDCO, agreeing on a commission of Rs 1 per unit.

Private charging centers charge Rs 20 to Rs 25 per unit plus 18% GST, while GHMC's charging centers charge Rs 13 per unit plus 18% GST. That means TGREDCO charges Rs15.34 per unit within GHMC limits, private charging stations charge between Rs  23.6 and Rs 35.4 per unit. GHMC also made a payment application named ‘TSEV’ app, through which the payments can be made digitally.   

GHMC's charging stations offer lower rates and complete charging within 40 minutes, with each station having a capacity of 60 kilowatts. Each vehicle, requiring 20 units, can be fully charged in 30 minutes.

Many mid-range EV cars in India require an average of 30-40 units, which takes approximately 45-60 minutes to fully charge. Therefore, a car with 20% battery needing 30 units to fully charge can be charged to full in just 30 minutes.

Additionally, GHMC has set up more 200 charging stations in collaboration with private charging centers to ensure no charging issues for EV owners in Hyderabad.
