The groundbreaking ceremony for the modernization works of Ganga Katwa will soon be performed by CM Revanth Reddy

Hydrabad: Thanks to the initiative of Jaggareddy, the Nizam-era Ganga Katwa Canal—which originates in Suraram village of Sadashivapet Mandal—has finally received the green light for modernization. Constructed during the Nizam era, this canal had not undergone any repairs until now. Works for which officials have been submitting proposals for repairs for decades have yet to see fruition. Responding to the requests of farmers in the Ganga Katwa ayacut and local leaders, Jaggareddy held a review meeting with Irrigation Department officials two months ago.

He instructed officials to immediately formulate new proposals for modernization works. Officials from the Irrigation Department prepared and submitted proposals worth ₹42 crore to the government for the modernization of the canal. The government has recently accorded its approval to these proposals. Jagga Reddy held a meeting at the Secretariat with Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy and senior officials. The modernization works to be undertaken on the Gangakatva Canal were discussed during this meeting.

Details of the Modernization Works:

The Gangakatva Canal originates in Suraram village of Sadashivapet Mandal and extends for a length of approximately 15 kilometers, traversing through 11 villages up to Machireddypally village within the same Mandal. The Gangakatva Canal is fed by feeder channels originating from 33 tanks. As part of the modernization project, lining works will be undertaken for the canal. New bridges will be constructed over the canal wherever necessary, and existing bridges will undergo repair works. Additionally, repairs will be carried out on the sluices located along the entire length of the canal. Once these canal works are completed, irrigation water can be supplied to an ayacut area of 3,000 acres.

Groundbreaking Ceremony with CM Revanth Reddy

In light of CM Revanth Reddy's upcoming visit to Sangareddy, Jagga Reddy is making arrangements to have the groundbreaking ceremony for the Ganga Katwa works performed by the Chief Minister himself. Accordingly, during a meeting held in the presence of Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy, Jagga Reddy instructed officials to expedite the necessary arrangements. Jagga Reddy further explained to the officials that the groundbreaking ceremony for the Ganga Katwa works would be conducted at the hands of CM Revanth Reddy, Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy, District Minister Damodar Raja Narasimha, and Minister-in-charge Vivek Venkat Swamy.
