The Andhra Pradesh government has launched an ambitious campaign to take the benefits of GST 2.0 reforms directly to every household. Branded as “Super GST - Super Savings,” the drive will run until October 19, spreading awareness across sectors and districts with over 65,000 meetings and events planned statewide.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, who reviewed the programme with the Cabinet Sub-Committee via video conference on Monday, directed officials to ensure that the advantages of GST reforms are communicated widely to consumers and ordinary citizens. He emphasized that the initiative, themed “GST benefits to every home,” has already highlighted tax reductions on essentials such as groceries, medicines, stationery, textiles, sports goods, transport, and items for women and children.
From September 30 to October 19, the campaign will spotlight different themes, focusing on sectors such as agriculture, MSMEs, handlooms, aquaculture, education, insurance, electronics, e-commerce, construction, tourism, hospitality, transport, logistics, sports equipment, renewable energy, and automobiles.
The Chief Minister instructed departments to adopt innovative outreach methods. Farmers will be engaged through tractor rallies and farm machinery demonstrations, while exhibitions under APCO, Lepakshi, and One District – One Product will promote local handloom and MSME goods along with information on GST reductions.
Even salons, yoga centers, and gyms will participate by displaying the price differences caused by GST cuts. To reach younger audiences, the government has planned essay writing and painting competitions in over 7,000 high schools and 4,000 junior colleges, explaining how GST cuts have reduced stationery costs. Similarly, awareness drives will highlight zero GST on life and health insurance premiums.
The campaign will conclude in a festive spirit on October 19, with shopping festivals and cultural programmes held in district headquarters. On the same evening, Diwali celebrations will be organized to mark the public outreach success.
