The Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) conducted a counselling session on Tuesday for drug consumers identified in Cr. No. 262/2025, registered under Langar House Police Station, along with their parents and relatives. The session was held at the Conference Hall, Old CP Office, Basheerbagh, Hyderabad. Out of over 100 identified consumers, 40 attended with their families.

The programme aimed to educate parents about the harmful effects of drug abuse, early warning signs of substance dependency, and the crucial role of family support in the rehabilitation of drug users. Gaikwad Vaibhav Raghunath, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Task Force/H-NEW, addressed the gathering, stressing that drug abuse is a serious social and public health concern, not just a law-and-order issue. He urged parents to maintain vigilance, keep open communication with their children, and cooperate with authorities to prevent drug-related activities. The DCP also highlighted the legal consequences for drug users and traffickers and appreciated the H-NEW team for their ongoing efforts in prevention and rehabilitation.

Parents actively engaged in the session, sharing concerns and clarifying doubts with officials. The DCP advised monitoring behavioural changes in children and seeking professional counselling if needed, emphasizing that collective responsibility and parental involvement are key to a drug-free society.

H-NEW reaffirmed its commitment to continue awareness and counselling programmes to protect youth, strengthen community participation, combat drug abuse, and make Hyderabad a drug-free city. Inspector G. S. Daniel and Sub-Inspector C. Venkata Ramulu, along with the H-NEW team, actively participated in the programme.
