Around 24,000 CCTV cameras have been installed in Kurnool, Nandyal and Kadapa districts. The minister exhorted officials to keep a constant watch on the movement of old rowdy sheeters

Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha said on Friday that technology is very crucial in crime control and instructed police officials not to compromise on maintaining law and order. She held a review meeting along with the DGP Harish Gupta at the police department headquarters in Mangalagiri. She said the safety of children and women should be given top priority and appreciated the hard work of the police administration, saying it was a good thing to nab the culprits as soon as the crime was committed.

As soon as the review meeting began, the Home Minister congratulated all the police personnel who worked hard to conduct the assembly session with tight security. The Home Minister spoke to the District SPs and enquired about the progress in installing CCTV cameras. Kurnool range DIG said that around 24,000 CCTV cameras have already been installed in Kurnool, Nandyal and Kadapa districts. The SPs briefed the Home Minister that they are working towards achieving the targets given by DGP Harish Gupta district-wise.

The Minister directed the city commissioners to go ahead with the 'helmet' with sensitivity towards those not wearing helmets. She appreciated the helmet drive being carried out by the police aimed at saving the lives of people. “The police department should be responsible for speedy disposal of revenue related cases. For this, the police department should constantly coordinate with the revenue department. Special attention should also be paid to cases with legal implications,” she reiterated.

She exhorted officials to keep a constant watch on the movement of old rowdy sheeters to control them. Representatives of the state police association met Home Minister Anitha. They have submitted a memorandum requesting that the surrenders and arrears due to the police be provided. DGP Harish Gupta, top police officers of the rank of IG and DIG, Police Commissioners of Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam, SPs of all districts and police officers from the DGP's office attended the review meeting via video conferencing.
