Appeals to Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to personally intervene and expedite long-pending infrastructure works

Metro India News | Hyderabad

Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy has once again appealed to Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to personally intervene and expedite long-pending infrastructure works related to approach roads, land allocation, and parking facilities at Charlapalli Railway Station, along with widening access roads to Secunderabad Railway Station.

In his letter written today (April 28), the Union Minister recalled that he had earlier written to the previous Chief Minister on June 15, 2022, and March 7, 2023, and subsequently to the present Chief Minister on September 8, 2024, bringing these issues to the government’s attention. Despite directions reportedly issued by the Chief Minister to concerned officials to resolve the matter and complete road works, and subsequent field level inspections by teams comprising Railway, GHMC, and Hyderabad Road Development Corporation officials, no tangible progress has been achieved so far. He urged the Chief Minister to take personal initiative and ensure immediate action to address these critical infrastructure needs.

Highlighting the growing pressure on Hyderabad’s major railway terminals such as Kacheguda Railway Station, Secunderabad Junction railway station, and Hyderabad Deccan railway station due to increasing population and passenger traffic, Kishan Reddy noted that the development of the modern Charlapalli Railway Terminal at a cost of Rs. 430 crore was aimed at easing this burden. Kishan Reddy said in the letter that Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the terminal on January 6, 2025.

Following its inauguration, dozens of trains now operate daily from Charlapalli Railway Station, leading to a significant rise in passenger movement. However, inadequate approach infrastructure is creating serious accessibility challenges, the minister stressed.

The Union Minister outlined key requirements, including widening the road from the FCI godown road to the new station building to 200 feet, which is expected to become the primary access route in the future. He also stressed the need to expand the Bharat Nagar side road near the Indian Oil petrol pump from the existing 30 feet to at least 100 feet.

Additionally, he pointed out that the road connecting EC Nagar to the MMTS platform is extremely narrow and requires expansion to a width of 100 meters over a stretch of 700 meters. To support increasing traffic and passenger convenience, he requested allocation of 3 acres of land on the station building side and 2.70 acres near the MMTS platform for parking and related facilities.

Kishan Reddy further mentioned that Rs. 4 crore has already been deposited by the Railways for providing a water supply connection to the Charlapalli terminal, and called for its early completion.

He also drew attention to the ongoing Rs. 715 crore redevelopment of Secunderabad Railway Station, emphasizing the urgent need to widen the road from Alpha Hotel to Rathifile Bus Stand to 120 feet to ensure smooth access to the northern terminal.

The Union Minister pointed out that timely execution of these works is crucial for improving urban mobility and supporting Hyderabad’s growing transportation needs.
