The Andhra Pradesh High Court has granted bail to five accused in the high-profile Paritala Ravi murder case, providing significant relief to them nearly 18 years after the incident. The decision came on Wednesday, marking a crucial development in the long-pending case.

The bail was granted to five individuals identified as A3 Panduga Narayana Reddy, A4 Rekhamayya, A5 Bajana Ranganayakulu, A6 Vadde Konda, and A8 Obireddy. According to legal sources, the accused are expected to be released from jail on Thursday, following the completion of formal procedures.

The Paritala Ravi murder case dates back to January 24, 2005, when the senior TDP leader was brutally killed by his political adversaries in Penukonda, Anantapur district. The assailants shot Ravi in broad daylight, creating a sensation across the then-undivided Andhra Pradesh. Paritala Ravi, a prominent leader of the Telugu Desam Party, had been a strong political force in the Rayalaseema region, known for its volatile political rivalries and factionalism. His assassination triggered widespread outrage and led to a series of investigations and arrests over the years.

The accused had been in custody for almost two decades as the case dragged on in courts. The High Court's recent decision to grant bail comes as a significant development, as the accused had been seeking legal reprieve for years. The accused are now set to walk free after spending years in prison, and further developments regarding the case proceedings are awaited.
