The Managing Director of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB), Ashok Reddy, on Monday visited the reservoirs constructed under the Outer Ring Road (ORR) Phase-2 project and instructed officials to take strict security and maintenance measures.
As part of the ORR Phase-2 initiative over the past two years, reservoirs were developed in areas including Brindavan Colony, Manchirevula, and Narsingi. During the inspection, Reddy directed the construction of protective boundary walls around the reservoirs and asked officials to submit detailed proposals for the same. He emphasized keeping the reservoir premises clean by removing debris and ensuring proper landscaping.
Reddy also stressed the importance of beautification through gardening, construction of internal pathways, and overall enhancement of the surroundings. He warned officials about private individuals disposing of construction waste at water board sites, instructing that vehicles involved should be seized and strict action taken.
He further instructed the installation of prominent gates and signage indicating the reservoirs as restricted and protected areas, while also advising that water board lands be recorded in official revenue records. Prior to the visit, Reddy conducted a review meeting at the Gandipet Section office, where he reviewed progress on water treatment plant construction at Janwada under Godavari Phase-2 and 3 projects, as well as the master balancing reservoir at Neapolis.
Officials were also directed to expedite the construction of sewage treatment plants at twin reservoirs. The ORR Phase-2 project is aimed at supplying water to municipalities, municipal corporations, gram panchayats, colonies, and gated communities along the Outer Ring Road.
The inspection included Chief General Manager Kiran Kumar and GMs Srinivas Reddy and Santosh, among other senior officials.
