Hyderabad is emerging as a leading global destination for setting up Global Capability Centres (GCCs), with major international companies showing strong interest in the city due to its world-class infrastructure and investor-friendly environment, said IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu.
He stated that several top global financial institutions are choosing Hyderabad to establish their GCCs. He highlighted that the city offers a highly skilled talent pool, international-standard infrastructure, traffic-free road networks, and affordable office rentals, which are attracting prominent global companies.
A delegation from New York-based Pico Technology met IT and Industries Minister Sridhar Babu at the Secretariat on Saturday. Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy also attended the meeting. The discussion focused on investment opportunities and Hyderabad’s rapidly expanding infrastructure ecosystem.
Pico Technology, which provides services related to financial markets, has expressed interest in setting up a GCC in Hyderabad through its Indian subsidiary, Pico Technology India. During the meeting, the minister explained the city’s development plans and infrastructure strengths.
He said the government is implementing infrastructure plans designed to meet both the next 5-year needs and the 20-year future requirements of the city. Sridhar Babu also pointed out that Hyderabad currently has an office space occupancy rate of 73%, compared to 52% in Mumbai, reflecting stronger demand in the city. He added that in contrast to Bengaluru and Mumbai, Hyderabad is witnessing a steady inflow of IT companies and GCCs, as traffic congestion and pollution have become major issues in other metro cities.
Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy detailed major infrastructure expansion plans. He said a Regional Ring Road is being constructed 30 km outside the existing Nehru Outer Ring Road, along with radial roads connecting key areas. He also stated that a railway line will be developed alongside the ring road, aiming to upgrade Hyderabad to global-city standards in transport infrastructure.
He further announced the construction of a double-decker road between Hayathnagar and LB Nagar. The lower level will be used for local traffic, while the upper two-level structure will be dedicated to vehicles moving into and out of the city. He added that Hyderabad will become the second city after Nagpur to build such double-decker road systems.
The minister said the tender process will be completed within two months, after which construction work will begin. The meeting was attended by Pico Technology founder CEO Jarrod S. Yuster, Pico India CEO Hari Kodanda Raman, and Director Seetharam.
