The Hyderabad City Police have invoked the Preventive Detention (PD) Act against Mir Akbar Ali, a 32-year-old habitual offender, citing his continued involvement in serious criminal activities that posed a threat to public order. The detention was ordered by the Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad City, following repeated assessments of his criminal conduct and its impact on public safety.
Mir Akbar Ali, a resident of Ganga Nagar Nala in Yakuthpura and employed as a DCM driver, has a long history of criminal cases registered against him. Police records show that he has been involved in as many as 25 cases, including grave offences such as murder, attempt to murder, robbery, and violations under the NDPS Act and the Arms Act. This is the third instance in which the PD Act has been enforced against him, as he had earlier been detained on two occasions under the same law.
In recent months, the Rein Bazar Police registered multiple fresh cases against the accused. These include a case under sections 118(1), 352 and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, another under the NDPS Act, and a third case involving sections 324(4), 329(4) and 351(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita along with Section 25(1) of the Indian Arms Act.
After the execution of the detention orders, Mir Akbar Ali was shifted to Chanchalguda Central Prison. Police officials reiterated that strict measures will continue against individuals who repeatedly disturb public peace and security.
