IAPPEM 2026, 4th national-level conference for addressing emergency health conditions in children was organized on Saturday at KIMS Cuddles Hospital, Gachibowli by the Indian Academy of Pediatrics (IAP). The conference was attended by IAP National President Dr. Neelam Mohan and UNICEF Chief Dr. Zelalem Birhanu Taffesse as guests. Dr. Ankita Chawla, Medical Director, KIMS Hospitals Gachibowli, also participated in the event.
Dr. Bhaskara Rao Bollineni, CMD of KIMS Group of Hospitals, expressed concern that busy parental lifestyles and excessive screen dependency among children are leading to new-age health and behavioral issues. He said children are increasingly exposed to inappropriate digital content while being left unsupervised, which significantly impacts their mental well-being.
Dr. Nitin Chawla, Chief of Pediatrics, KIMS Cuddles Gachibowli noted that earlier, joint families ensured better supervision of children, whereas today’s nuclear family structure has reduced such monitoring, increasing risks. As part of the conference, 12 specialized workshops are being conducted to enhance clinical skills among young pediatricians.
