Increase in procurement centres for cotton: Tummala

The Telangana Government is increasing the number of procurement centres from 110 to 122, including a new one at Konaraopet in Rajanna Sircilla. Ahead of the 2025-26 Cotton season, Telangana agriculture and marketing minister Tummala Nageswara Rao today directed the officials to work in close coordination with the Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) to ensure farmers get Minimum Support Price (MSP).

At a review meeting with CCI officials, the minister noted that the market prices are currently Rs.1,099 per quintal below MSP, and stressed for immediate and effective procurement. Steps taken to increase the number of procurement centres from 110 to 122, including a new one at Konaraopet in Rajanna Sircilla, he added. Tummala ordered for Aadhaar-based direct bank transfers of MSP payments, training of AEOs on the 'Cotton Kisan' app, and awareness drives for farmers.
